Nordic Journey: Organ Music from the North — A benefit concert by James Hicks

James Hicks, a concert organist from Califon, NJ, will present a benefit concert at St. Luke’s on May 5 at 5 p.m in the Sanctuary. James holds degrees in music from the Peabody Institute of Music of Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, and the University of Cincinnati. Other studies include courses at the Royal School of Church Music in England. James is currently traveling the country, offering concerts without a fee, to raise money for the New Jersey chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The campaign lasts until May 2020 at which time he will culminate the whole project by hiking a medieval pilgrimage trail devoted to St. Olav that traverses Sweden and Norway. Over the past several years, Jim has intensively researched a relatively unknown and unexplored corner of the organ repertoire - the music of Nordic countries - and his concert at St. Luke’s will feature this music.
